Case Study: Driving Dialogue Through Inclusive Communications — “Integrating Inclusive Technology at the Workplace”
Project: Press Release
Client: Living Independently for Everyone, Inc.
Project Lead: Marketing & Communications Specialist
Campaign Lead: Maya Parkins, Founder of Idea Craft Strategies
Duration: August 2018 – October 2020
Challenge:
Living Independently for Everyone, Inc. (LIFE) sought to increase awareness around the importance of workplace inclusion, particularly for individuals with disabilities. The organization needed a compelling communications strategy to position itself as a thought leader on inclusive technology while sparking broader discussions across business communities.
Despite an increasing focus on DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion), the topic of inclusive technology remained underexplored in many workplace conversations. Our goal was to change that.
Solution:
As the Marketing & Communications Specialist—and now founder of Idea Craft Strategies—Maya Parkins developed a strategic communications campaign, which included a flagship press release titled: “Integrating Inclusive Technology at the Workplace.”
This campaign was designed to:
Introduce the concept of inclusive tech tools that support people with disabilities.
Spark public and corporate interest in adopting more accessible systems.
Position LIFE as a leader in disability advocacy and workplace innovation.
Core Deliverables:
A professionally written and widely distributed press release highlighting the benefits of inclusive technology.
Companion marketing assets including brochures, e-newsletters, and a landing page designed to further the message.
A coordinated outreach strategy to media outlets, accessibility-focused organizations, and DEI leaders.
Execution:
To craft the press release, Maya Parkins conducted:
Stakeholder interviews with accessibility advocates and disability specialists.
Research on emerging technologies—screen readers, adaptive software, voice navigation tools—and their ROI in workplace environments.
Messaging strategy tailored for business audiences, using inclusive and empathetic language without compromising on professionalism or clarity.
Once the release was finalized, Maya Parkins:
Targeted outreach to diversity-focused media, workforce development publications, and disability rights blogs.
Designed a supporting content series to extend the life of the campaign across newsletters, social media, and event promotions.
Partnered with LIFE’s leadership to secure keynote speakers from government agencies for follow-up events, emphasizing the real-world impact of accessible tech adoption.
Results:
Engagement Surge:
The press release garnered over 2,000 reads within the first week via online distribution platforms and direct outreach.
Expanded Reach:
The content was picked up by 7 niche DEI blogs and reshared on LinkedIn by disability inclusion influencers, expanding reach by an estimated 22,000 users.
Elevated Profile:
LIFE received multiple invitations to speak at industry roundtables, solidifying its status as a voice in inclusive workplace solutions.
New Partnerships Formed:
The press release helped secure two new corporate sponsorships and spurred collaboration with accessibility-focused tech developers.
Fundraising Impact:
Campaign visibility contributed to increased attendance at LIFE’s nonprofit events and a notable rise in donor support—a direct reflection of increased trust and visibility in the community.
Conclusion:
This campaign demonstrated how mission-aligned storytelling and strategic communications can turn a nonprofit’s values into measurable impact. By combining deep subject matter research, accessible design, and a clearly articulated message, the “Integrating Inclusive Technology” release opened new doors for conversation, inclusion, and growth.
At Idea Craft Strategies, Maya Parkins continue to lead campaigns that connect purpose with performance—building equity, awareness, and opportunity, one strategy at a time.
